Care Of the Aging skin
The skin is the largest organ in the body. It plays a vital role in maintaining our good health and is also responsible for our appearance and complexion. As we age our skin age with us and without proper care can lead not only to illness but to an unacceptable cosmetic result.
A healthy skin appears radiant with a smooth texture that is evenly pigmented and with a colour that is alive and bright. For this a skin needs abundant collagen and elastin, no sun damage and rapid cell turnover.
Causes for skin to age.
Intrinsic. Genetic and chronologic. ( We have no control over it ).
Extrinsic. Sun, smoking, excessive alcohol and poor nutrition.
Signs of an aging and sun damaged skin.

Oil glands stop working and skin becomes less moist. |

Collagen and elastin production decrease leaving the skin with wrinkles. |

Loss of the skin`s underlying support systems causes them to open up .

In the 40`s.
Further loss of elasticity of the skin.
Loss of collagen and fat in the face causes cheeks to sag.
Smile line between the nose and mouth corner becomes more prominent.
Wrinkling around the eyes (crows feet). Forehead worry lines.
Mouth corners will turn down.
Age spots start deepening in colour.
50`s and beyond.
